Pine oil is an essential oil which is extracted from the twigs with buds of the pine tree, especially from Pinus sylvestris, which is one of the 115 pine species from family Pinaceae. The pine trees are huge which can grow from 8 m to 80 m in height. These are evergreen and long lived trees. These resinous trees generally grow in acid soils and calcareous soil. Pine trees are most important commercial tree as these are valued for their timber, wood pulp, resin, seeds or pine nuts, outer bark and of course essential oil. The pine oil which is yellow in color is extracted through steam distillation process and is used for its fresh fragrance and medicinal importance.
